Cats

Cats love to relax in front of a fire. My two are no exceptions.

The Grey cat adopted my house and family. It just appeared one day looking extremely thin. She was just a few months old. I tried not to pat or feed it or encourage it but she would not go away. It would sleep in the cold open shed outside. A neighbour said it belonged to another neighbour - who had shifted away. Obviously they neglected her and Grey decided we were a better prospect. So we took her in along side our other 2 cats and stuck to the really boring name of Grey because we had not named her properly and had just called her Grey before we decided to keep her.

The tortoiseshell cat, named Katy, was the kitten of our original cat called Sophie. Sophie was very friendly, inquisitive and dominated the other 2 cats who are about the same age. But one fateful time in the early morning she was too inquisitive and must have crossed a road at the wrong moment. She never came home. We found out over the next week of door knocking the neighbour hood that someone had found her dead in the middle of the road and dealt with her. A very sad moment.

Katy was very timid of people and understandably so was Grey. But after Sophie died they both came out of their shell. Believe it or not they are not really great friends. They fight and tolerate each other. But on occasions ( rare ) they do get together , as in the photo.

They have different areas they like. Grey likes to sleep in my bedroom and Katy is more of a lounge cat.
